Inorder to tackle the trend of using short forms and SMS language and to giveimpetus to spelling and pronounciation, St. Thomas School, Indirapuramorganized Spell ‘O’ Philo – III on 24th November, 2015 with its yetanother unique theme ‘Pine for Pacifism’, a fun-filled inter schoolSpelling Competition in the memory of His Grace Job Mar Philoxenos(Former Metropolitan of Delhi Diocese and Vice President of St. ThomasSchools). The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. Shiv K Gilra, Professor ofEnglish and Chief Editor , Study Material Division at Mewar Institute ,Vasundhara, Ghaziabad. The event was also graced by the Chairman of the School,Rev.Fr. Saji Yohannan, Manager of St Thomas School, Sahibabad, Rev. Fr. SajuThomas, Principal Mr.V.K.Kuriakose, Vice Principal Mrs. Shali Nair, HeadMistress Mrs Rachel Reji, Vice Principal of St. Thomas School, Sahibabad Mr.Dious Mathai, members of the management and other distinguished guests. Twenty Onereputed schools from Delhi and NCR participated in the competition.

Thecompetition was organised to reinstate the indispensability of correctspellings. It kept the participants and the audience on the edge of theirseats. The whole event was nerve wrecking including three laps – Prelims (Dictation) named The Genesis, Semifinals (Worksheet) named Armour your Liaisonand Finals (Audio/Video) named Fathom your faculties.

Outof the twenty one schools, five could reach the Finals. Cambridge School, Noida came out victorious.They won the Rolling Trophy, Cash prize of Rs.10,000/- and mementos. The FirstRunner up was Bal Bharati Public School, Brij Vihar who won Cash Prize of Rs.5000/- and mementos and Second Runner up was St. Francis School, Indirapuram whowon Cash Prize of Rs. 3000/- and mementos.

Thrilling,glamorous and nerdy, the competition was linguistic at its best. The spellingextravaganza provides a platform for the best spellers of Delhi and NCR toidentify their strengths and achieve recognition for their unique spellingskills.
