MUSCAT: Geevarghese Yohannan, founder and Managing Director, of Muscat-based Nadan Trading LLC, has been elected as a nominated member of the Malankara Orthodox Sabha Managing Committee on March 1, 2017.
A senior member of the Muscat Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka (Ahmedabad Diocese), Geevarghese Yohannan, popularly known as Baby among friends, is an outstanding leader with great qualities of head and heart. He is the only one from among the 33-member strong committee elected from Ahmedabad Diocese under Metropolitan HG Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios.
Leading national daily Oman Daily Observer recently featured Geevarghese Yohannan in its book titled ‘Top Business Leaders’ calling him a ‘game changer and a compassionate business leader.’ Geevarghese has over 45 years’ experience in construction, trading, hospitality industry, education and community services development. All his businesses continue to play a key role towards shaping a better world. He is also the founder-chairman of nine organisations in Kerala, including MGM Group of Schools, MGM Arts and Science College, Malankara Group of Concerns, Divine Group of Concerns, Nadan Fuels and Yohaan Film Productions.
Geevarghese Yohannan Charitable Trust was established in 1993, which runs several institutions in Kerala, namely Mar Gregorios Memorial (MGM) Residential Public School (Kottarakara), MGM Central Public School (Trivandrum), MGM Public School (Ernakulam), MGM Group of Schools and College (Kilimanoor, Kaniyapuram, Paripally, Mangalapuram, Kadampanad, and Venjaranoodu); Malankara Group of Concerns; and Divine Group of Hotels and Restaurants.
Till 2016, about 15,000 students are obtaining education in the educational institutions. Nearly thousand jobs have been created by Nadan Group of concern both in India and the Sultanate of Oman.
Geevarghese, 68, actively runs his businesses and says “I have worked hard and given the best time to my business and also my family. I am sincere to my profession as well as to my family. I have never worried about the results of the effort I put into business. I have always relied on God who has helped me always from the beginning. When you proceed in life with a proper planning and a systematic way, success has to come to you, sooner or later.”
Geevarghese hails from ‘Kuzhivila Puthen Veedu’, Nellikunnam, Kottarakara. His family consists of Jainamma Yohannan (spouse), and four children, namely Alfa Mary, Oleena Mary, Meeval Mary and Jabson Varghese (son). St George Orthodox Church, Nellikunnam, is his home parish under the Diocese of Punalur-Kottarakkara.
