The mortal remains of Sister Susamma, whose body was found in a well on the premises of a convent in Pathanapuram, were laid to rest at Mount Tabor Dayara cemetery on Tuesday.
Nuns, priests, students and colleagues paid their last respects to the nun when the body was kept at the dayara chapel and Kochi diocesan Metropolitan Yakoob Mar Irenios was present at the funeral service. The 54-year-old nun, who allegedly committed suicide, was a resident of the Mount Tabor Dayara, a convent attached to the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
According to the autopsy report, the cause of death was drowning and the injuries on both her hands were self-inflicted. Naphthalene balls were also found inside her abdomen, said police officials.
