MUSCAT: Fr Jinesh K Varkey, Secretary, St Gregorios Dayabhavan, will be the recipient of the fourth Thanal Charity Award 2017-2018 instituted in the name of LL HG Dr Stephanos Mar Theodosius (1924-2007) by Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka Muscat.
The Georgian Award winner is well-known for his involvement and contribution to rural community service in Kunigal taluk, Tumkur district of Karnataka.
Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan HG Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios will present the award to Fr Jinesh during the Thanal Project valedictory ceremony on March 9, Friday, at St Thomas Church, Ruwi, organised by Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka (MGOME).
The parish in its 45th year launched the Thanal charity project for 2017-18 titled ‘Divine Touch of Healing’ in aid of cancer patients and helped out the patients irrespective of caste and creed. The function also marks the conclusion of the year-long celebrations of 45th anniversary of MGOME (1972-2017).
HG Dr Yuhanon Mar Diascoros, Holy Episcopal Synod Representative, Metropolitan, Madras Orthodox Diocese and Assistant Metropolitan Kottayam Diocese, Fr Dr M O John (Priest Trustee), George Paul Embasseril (Lay Trustee) and Adv Biju Oommen Muringasseril (Association Secretary), will also grace the function.
The Thanal Charity Project Committee for 2017-18 comprised of Fr Jacob Mathew Vicar/President, MGOME, Mathew Varghese (Trustee), Sabu Koshy (Co-Trustee), Manoj Mathew (Secretary), Biju George (Convenor), Biju John, Joshi Kaleeckal, Mathew P Thomas, O Thomas and Varghese P David.
