AHMEDABAD: HH Catholicos Baselios Paulose II, Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, felicitated Oman’s veteran plastic surgeon Dr Chona Thomas at the 80th Global OCYM Annual Conference at Ahmedabad.
Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan HG Dr Pulikkottil Geevarghese Yulios read out the citation hailing the contributions of Dr Chona Thomas to the Indian Orthodox church. Earlier, Dr Chona Thomas also addressed the OCYM Youth Conference with an inspiring talk.
The 80th Annual Conference of Orthodox Christian Youth Movement of the East (OCYM) of Indian Orthodox Church, was held from September 30 to October 2, 2016 at Pulikottil Joseph Mar Dionysious I Nagar, Gandhi Smrithi, Diocese Centre, Naroda, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The theme of the conference was based on “Beauty of Silence”.
The function was also graced by the presence by HG Thomas Mar Athanasious, Metropolitan (Chengannur Diocese), OCYM Annual Conference at Ahmedabad, HG Geevarghese Mar Coorilos, Metropolitan (Bombay Diocese), HG Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius, Metropolitan (Kolkota Diocese) and HG Yuhanon Mar Polycarpos, Metropolitan (Angamaly Diocese) and other parish priests.
Dr Thomas is a nominated member of the Ahmedabad Diocesan Council (2012-2017) from the Sultanate of Oman. A veteran plastic surgeon, Dr Thomas, skills in aesthetic (cosmetic), reconstructive, dermatological and hand surgery are unparalleled. Dr Thomas is one of the most respected figures in the medical fraternity, having spearheaded the entire gamut of plastic surgery services in Oman for over 32 years.
