വന്ദ്യ കെ. എം. ഐസക്ക് അച്ചന്റെ വേർപാട് വ്യക്തിപരമായി ഒരു തീരാനഷ്ടമാണ് എനിക്ക്. ഒരു ആത്മാർത്ഥ സുഹൃത്തും സഹോദരനുമാണ് യാത്രയാകുന്നത് . ഈ ആത്മബന്ധത്തിനു 37 വർഷത്തെ ശക്തിയുണ്ട് .1983 ൽ കോട്ടയം ബസേലിയോസ് കോളേജിൽ ഒരു വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയായി ഞാൻ ചേരുമ്പോൾ എന്റെ തൊട്ടു സീനിയർ ക്ലാസ്സിലായിരുന്നു ഡീക്കൻ കെ. എം. ഐസക്ക് . പിറ്റേ വർഷം നടന്ന കോളേജ് യൂണിയൻ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ ചെയർമാൻ സ്ഥാനാർത്ഥിയായി ശെമ്മാശ്ശൻ നോമിനേഷൻ നൽകിയപ്പോൾ നമ്മുടെ ഒരു ശെമ്മാശ്ശൻ മത്സരിച്ചു തോൽക്കാൻ പാടില്ല എന്ന പിടിവാശി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതിനാൽ ശെമ്മാശ്ശനുവേണ്ടി തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് പ്രചാരണം നടത്തിയത് ഓർക്കുന്നു . അങ്ങനെ നമ്മുടെ ഒരു കോളേജിൽ ആദ്യമായി ഒരു ശെമ്മാശ്ശൻ യൂണിയൻ ചെയർമാനായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടത് ഐസക് ശെമ്മാശ്ശനാണ്. തുടർന്നുണ്ടായ ആ ബന്ധം ഇന്നുവരെ ഏറ്റം അനുഗ്രഹീതമായി തുടരുന്നു . കോട്ടയം സെൻട്രൽ ഭദ്രാസനത്തിലെ പള്ളികളിൽ അദ്ദേഹം നിസ്തുലമായ ശുശ്രൂഷ നിർവഹിച്ചു . ദീർഘകാലം കാതോലിക്കേറ്റ് ആൻഡ് എം. ഡി. കോർപ്പറേറ്റ് മാനേജ്‌മന്റ് സ്കൂളുകളുടെ ഓഫീസ് സെക്രട്ടറിയായി പ്രശംസനീയമായ സേവനം നടത്തി .ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുന്ന കോട്ടയം ചെറിയപള്ളിയുടെ സഹപട്ടക്കാരനായും മുൻപ് അദ്ദേഹം സേവനമനുഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് . നിലവിൽ കോട്ടയം മാർ ഏലിയാ കത്തീഡ്രൽ വികാരിയായിരുന്നു . രണ്ടു വർഷത്തോളമായി കാൻസർ രോഗബാധിതനായി ചികിത്സയിലും ആയിരുന്നു. ആരെയും ഹഠാദാകർഷിക്കുന്ന കുലീനമായ പെരുമാറ്റം കൊണ്ടും മാതൃകായോഗ്യമായ ജീവിതം കൊണ്ടും ശുശ്രൂഷ കൊണ്ടും അനേക ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ സ്വാധീനിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് ഐസക് അച്ചൻ.

“ഭംഗ്യാ ദൈവസുതാ നിന്നെ
ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചൊരു വൈദികനെ…..
നിന്നാഗമനമതാ നാളിൽ ഓർത്തു മുഖപ്രഭയേകേണം” എന്ന് പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുന്നു.

Let me  share an experience narrated by another priest, which will enable the readers to perceive Isaac Achan’s nobility. Two names I am not disclosing. Deacon X was in his final year at Seminary some twenty years ago and as usual, he had to have parish services as part of curriculum training. One Sunday, he had to attend church in Kottayam and the Vicar Fr Z used to reside at Seminary on Saturdays. Fr Z directed Dn X to be ready early morning. In the morning, Deacon went to the room where Fr Z was staying  and Fr Z  handed over his box to Dn X. They went in Achan’s two wheeler. After HQ, Dn X had to take a class for Morth Mariam Samajam. After spending some half an hour with them discussing spiritual matters, Dn X came back to church room and there was no trace of Fr Z. Dn X  took breakfast and returned to Seminary catching a bus.  Weeks later, Dn X had another assignment in another church in Kottayam. Fr Isaac was the Vicar. On Saturday, Achan told Dn Z to wait at the gate of Seminary early morning. Both went together, and after HQ, Dn X had to address Youth Movement. After the class, he went to church room, and Fr Isaac was there, not having taken his breakfast. Dn X suggested Achan could have taken breakfast. But Achan replied, “We came together in the morning. So we should have breakfast together. I took you from Seminary. I should drop you back there”. Yes, this is Isaac Achan. So simple. So pure in heart. So decent. So cool. So calm. To loss such a priest is a real loss, an irreparable loss.
