‘Divine pleasure to work for welfare of Christian community in His vineyard’

AHMEDABAD: His Grace Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Metropolitan, Indian Orthodox Diocese of Ahmedabad, has welcomed the appointment of Rt Rev Athanasius Rathnaswamy as the new Catholic Bishop of Ahmedabad.
Rt Rev Athanasius becomes the fifth bishop of the Ahmedabad diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Gujarat from April 14.
In a letter addressed to the Bishop, Mar Yulios has said that it will be ‘divine pleasure’ to work for the welfare, progress and blessings of the Christian community in His vineyard.
As Metropolitan of the Diocese of Gujarat of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church (MOSC), Mar Yulios says he looks forward towards working with the Bishop for the Glory of God and for the welfare of mankind, which has been the case with all other Catholic Bishops in Gujarat.
“We have maintained a close and cordial relationship with all Bishops in Gujarat. We wish you all the best and abundant blessings of the Lord in your pastoral and evangelical work,” states the letter dated April 11, issued from St Thomas Bishop’s House, Naroda, Ahmedabad.
