AHMEDABAD: Charity is an integral part of the Christian way of life and the Indian Orthodox Church gives due to importance to this. Emphasising this aspect, the MGOCSM members of the Diocese of Ahmedabad decided to take part in the Great Lent charity project and make it successful. Student Movement members decided to donate the proceeds from their Great Lent fast for Prerana Multipurpose School under the auspices of St Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary (STOTS).
HG Pullikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Metropolitan, Ahmedabad Diocese, has in a Kalpana No 36/17 emphasised the charity aspect and points out that donating alms is an expression of our gratitude for all that God has provided us.
His Grace notes that charity is a realisation that in the ‘Body of Christ, is never just ‘me and God.’ Through prayer and fasting, the Metropolitan notes, we come to a deeper understanding that voluntary help to those in need must be our prime responsibility.
