St. GregoriosSchool,Dwarka is in a jubilant mood as its Principal,Mr. M. Boyaz has been selected by the CBSE for conferring the coveted ‘CBSE Award’ to teachers for the year 2015. The award comprises a certificate of commendation, cash award of Rs.50,000/- and a shawl.
His meritorious services to SGS as its Principal has enabled the school to come to the forefront in the field of academic, co-curricular and disciplining levels. His vision, motivation and hard-work has made the school as one of the most sought after schools in West Delhi.
In 2003 when he joined as the Principal there were about ‘950’ students and now the strength is around ‘2300’. In order to integrate teaching with technology and make the teaching learning process interesting and effective, introduction of smart classes, abacus classes, yoga sessions etc were begun during his tenure. Keeping in mind safety and security of the students CCTV and PA systems have been also installed in all class rooms. Introduction of extracurricular subjects and related activities like art & craft, pottery, music, school band, home science under SUPW have enabled the students to nurture their talents. Introduction of French as a subject from Class-V to X and starting Humanity section were well appreciated by the parents and students. Starting of different clubs, NCC and coaching for skating, football and cricket are also added to his credit, and these are helping the young minds to a world beyond textbooks and classrooms.
Being a teacher for 30+years he knows that education involves in transforming the society through the children. Keeping this in mind peace marches on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti and Republic Day, padayatras to sensitize about health and hygiene in Amrahi village, rallies to contribute towards clean Delhi Drive, maintaining and taking care of Sector-12, Dwarka market, organizing charity works and raising fund to support Leprosy Foundation of India, SOS, Orphanage students etc. were conducted during his tenure.
From time to time he has been entrusted with duties and responsibilities by various departments and he fulfilled them with honour and pride. He was co-ordinator for the programme‘SheraMera Dost’for district South West-B during common wealth games. Civil Services main examination and CTET were conducted effectively and was appointed as CNS for Class-XII Biology and Business Studies for 2010-11, co-ordinator for Physics evaluation centre for ‘4’ years and Chemistry Practical Examiner for Class-X & XII for more than ‘16’ years. He has been entrusted with duties of enquiry and affiliation committee member for CBSE.
Recognizing his contribution and suffers efforts as an educationist he has been honoured with several awards, he received the ‘Social Action Award’ by the Indian Development Foundation in 2007-08 for excellence in health awareness, resource mobilization and humanitarian services. For co-ordinating effectively and efficiently ‘ShereMera Dost’programme during Common Wealth Games he received ‘ManavKalyanSamrika and ManavRatna Award’ in December 2010. He is a recipient of Silverzone Educational Excellence Award. To his credit appreciation certificate and memento from International Maths Olympiad in 2010 and from International Informatics Olympiad for contributing to computer literacy.
Lions Club Delhi honoured him with Lions Excellence Award in 2013. The RashtrabhashaVikasParishad awarded him the “DronacharyaPuraskar” in 2014. He was conferred with the prestigious Dr. S. RadhakrishnanSadbhavana Award for excellence in education in the year 2014 and International School award by British Council for 2015-18.
He has given his life for the cause of education and takes the extra miles for the benefit of the students and the institution. His vision, hardwork& ability to motivate the staff and students have enabled the school to rise to a prominent level and the pass out students were able to make inroad into prestigious institutions, colleges& even civil services. Honouring him with CBSE Award to Teachers for the year 2015 is a recognition of his hard labour and a token of appreciation for the same.
