Muscat Maha Edavaka invites applications from patients needing aid  for heart surgery as part of its Thanal charity project

MUSCAT: Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka (MGOME) Muscat has invited applications from genuine patients who require urgent medical treatment for cardiac surgery as part of its  charity project. 
The Maha Edavaka launched its popular annual Thanal (meaning ‘shade’) Project for 2016-17 titled ‘Divine Touch of Healing’ (Karunyathinte Thoovalsparsham), in aid of cardiac surgery patients on June 24, 2016, Friday, at St Thomas Church, Ruwi.  Dr Benny Panakkal, senior consultant interventional cardiologist, Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals and Polyclinics, launched the project by lighting the traditional lamp, along with the vicars, executives and other dignitaries. The charity project strives to help needy patients who require urgent medical aid towards their surgery. 

Fr Jacob Mathew, Vicar/President, MGOME, says the project is an aid given specially to children and elders, to undergo cardiac surgery to those who are financially weak and are not able to mop up the required funds. The Vicar has urged the faithful to extend their full support, cooperation and prayers like the previous years.
Besides, Fr Jacob Mathew, Fr Kuriakose Varghese (Associate Vicar), Biju George (Trustee), Sajan C Varghese (Co-Trustee) and Benson Skaria (Secretary), the five-member Thanal Charity Project Committee includes George Kunjumon, John Thomas (Sajan), Mrs Molly Abraham, Nidhin Babu Chirathilattu, and Shibu John.
Malankara Sabha magazine will soon publish a detailed advertisement calling for applications in its next print edition.
