MUSCAT: Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka youth movement celebrated the World Environment Day programme on June 10, 2016. Friday. The Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (OCYM) lads engaged themselves in distribution of plants and planted a sapling at the parish’s Ruwi premises.
Later, a seminar was led by social activist Ms Rekha Prem who highlighted various aspects of saving the environment.
Vicar/President and Ahmedabad Diocesan Secretary Fr Jacob Mathew inaugurated the programme while Associate Vicar, Fr Kuriakose Varghese, led the felicitations along with P K Koshy, Sabha Managing committee member, and Mammen George, Diocesan council member.
A documentary was screened on the occasion and several varieties of saplings were distributed among the members. Biju Varghese, Vice-President, OCYM, delivered the welcome address while OCYM Secretary Pradeep Varghese proposed a vote of thanks. Amal P George convened the programme.
