SOHAR, Sultanate of Oman: Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan HG Pullikkottil Dr
Geevarghese Mar Yulios will lead the feast of St George the martyr at St George Orthodox Church, Sohar , on May 13. The feast and liturgy will be held at the PCO from 8 pm onwards.
Mar Yulios will also lead the Holy Eucharist during Pentecost festival on May 15, Sunday, at the PCO from 8 pm to 10.30 pm.
During the Sohar visit, meetings with various spiritual organisations, annual day celebrations, managing committee, MOM and Youth Conferences have also been scheduled.
The Metropolitan will also visit congregations at Wilayat of Ibri (northwest Oman), Al Rustaq (Al Batinah region) and Al Buraimi Governorate before returning to capital Muscat on May 21, Saturday.
Earlier, upon arrival at the Muscat International Airport on May 10, Mar Yulios was received by the vicars of Muscat Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka, (Fr Jacob Mathew), St Mary’s Orthodox Church, Ghala, (Fr George Varghese), St George Orthodox Church, Sohar, (Fr Varghese Thomas).
Four churches in the Sultanate come under Orthodox Diocese of Ahmedabad spread over two in Muscat and Ghala, one in Sohar (Al Batinah North Governorate) and in Salalah, southern Oman’s Dhofar Governorate.
