Catholicos: St Mar Dionysius strove to place MOSC high among Oriental Orthodox churches as relics installed at Muscat Maha Edavaka

MUSCAT: HH Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II, Catholicos of the East & Malankara Metropolitan, along with Ahmedabad Diocesan Metropolitan HG Pullikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios lead the installation ceremony of the holy relics of St Vattasseril Geevarghese Mar Dionysius and St Gregorios of Parumala at Muscat Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka on March 4, 2016.
The Catholicos praised the Muscat Mar Gregorios Maha Edavaka for installing the relics of a great luminary of Malankara Orthodox Church, popularly known as ‘Malankara Sabha Bhasuran’, and preferred all Orthodox churches to celebrate his feast without fail.
The Prelate heaped praises on the rich contributions of a luminary who strove hard through his efforts to help the traditional and centuries-old Malankara Orthodox Church stand erect to make its voice heard among the comity of Oriental Orthodox churches. The role of the saints help to lead us and is a blessing to the future generation, the Catholicos said pointing that the holy relics have their own authentication.
HG Pullikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios read the citation of the two plaques erected at the site and urged all to show outmost reverence to the holy saints while visiting the church.
Fr Jacob Mathew, Vicar, Mar Gregorios Maha Edavaka, Fr Kuriakose Varghese, Associate Vicar, Very Rev Joseph Samuel Karukayil, Cor Episcopa, Dn Santhosh also attended the ceremony.
The relics committee included P K Koshy, Sabha Managing Committee member and General Convenor, Abraham Mathew, Publicity Convenor, O Thomas, Reception Convenor and Mammen George, Diocesan Council Member.
Later the Catholicos and Mar Yulios blessed and declared open the newly renovated office of the Maha Edavaka. A large number of faithful attended the ceremony. John Thomas, Trustee, Varghese David, Co-Trustee, John P Luke, Secretary, also attended.
