Devaria Mission Project under Mar Yulios seeks help to build residential school for poor children

MAR YULIOS AT DEVARIA MISSION PROJECT

DEVARIA, Kutch District (Gujarat): The Devaria Mission Project of  Indian Orthodox Diocese of Ahmedabad under HG Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios received a boost with the Metropolitan’s visit to the village as part of the Lenten season.
Devaria village in the Kutch district of Gujarat state was part of the visit to various other churches and congregations by the Metropolitan during his two-week Lenten visit.
The mission project is being undertaken with the help of the Malankara Mission Board for which land was donated by St Stephen’s Orthodox Church Charitable Trust under Vicar Fr Santu Skaria.
The project envisages building a residential school for the less privileged students who fall under the lower income group. The Metropolitan has sought sincere prayers and generous support from the faithful towards beginning work on building the residential school.
Says Mar Yulios: “The project is planned to provide quality education to the needy who are not privileged or lucky enough to pursue studies on their own. We are planning to launch the project by June and work on the building will commence soon.”
Among those who accompanied Dr Mar Yulios included Adv Dr Mathai Mamapalli, Fr Joji George Koickalethu, Fr Santu Skaria among others.
It may be recalled the Devaria Mission Project was launched on November 21, 2013. The foundation-stone laying ceremony was held in the blessed presence of Malankara Orthodox Metropolitan’s HG Dr Yuhanon Mar Chrysostomos, Bishop of Niranam Diocese, and HG Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios.
The Devaria Mission Project is also called as St Gregorios Krupa Alaya. The project launch was held at St Stephen’s Orthodox Church, Gandhidham, a city and municipality coming under Kutch district.
