BENGALURU: HG Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim, Metropolitan of Bangalore Diocese, has released the 15th edition of ‘The Meltho Logos Calendar’ for 2022 at the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church (MOSC) Bangalore Diocesan Centre, Dodda Gubbi Post, Bengaluru, on December 9, 2021.
The Metropolitan handed over the inaugural copy to Fr Santosh Samuel, Diocesan Secretary, Bangalore Diocese, in the presence of Fr Varghese Philip Idichandy, Vicar, St George Orthodox Church and Pilgrim Centre, Indiranagar, Bengaluru.
The 2022 Meltho Convention is scheduled to be held in February 2022.
As usual, Fr P Idichandy, has conceptualised the theme and design for the Wall Calendar, 2022 on ‘The Blessings of ‘Jacob – ‘The Patriarch’ and the ‘12 Tribes of Israel’.
The calendar gives an outline on Jacob (Israel), the younger son of Isaac, and the blessing to his sons who go on to become the progenitors of the 12 tribes of Israel.
Each individual page depicts a tribe and gives a brief sketch on the ‘blessings’ received by each son from Jacob.
Accordingly, the first month of January begins with the tribe of Reuben, the first tribe of Israel, followed by the tribes of Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph ending with the tribe of Benjamin for December.
Each page also contains details of ‘Sabha Panchangam’, days permissible for marriage according to the Canon Laws, and Sunday Bible reading verses. Each month also highlights the important Indian festivals and government holidays.
The calendar ends with a picture of Catholicate headquarters, Devalokam Aramana, Kottayam, under the new Catholicos of the East (Malankara Metropolitan), HH Baselios Marthoma Mathews III and below the Bangalore Diocese under HG Dr Mar Seraphim.
Fr Idichandy is a prominent writer and orator of the Indian Orhtodox Church. He hails from ‘Alummottil’, Panackel Thekkettil, Kallumala Mavelikara, Kerala.
