MUSCAT/SALALAH: HG Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan, has begun a 10-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman from January 21 to 30, 2015.
After a brief halt at the Muscat Maha Edavaka, Mar Yulios left to visit the St Stephen’s Orthodox Church, Salalah.
On January 23, Friday after the Holy Eucharist, His Grace will preside over a reception hosted by the MGOCYM along with veteran actor Captain Raju. Fr Jose Chemmen will also preside over the meeting.
Upon return at the Muscat Maha Edavaka, the Metropolitan will lead the family conference on January 30, Friday, after the Holy Eucharist and the 3-day Nineveh Lent from January 26.
Earlier, upon arrival at the Muscat International Airport from Mumbai, Mar Yulios was warmly welcomed by Fr Joji George Koickalethu, Vicar of Muscat Maha Edavaka, Fr George Varghese, Vicar of St Mary’s Orthodox Church, Ghala, Mathew Ninan Athimoottil, Diocesan Council Member, P K Koshy, Malankara Sabha Secretary, and members of the Executive Committee.
4 churches namely Mar Gregorious Orthodox Maha Edavaka Muscat, St Mary’s Orthodox Church in Ghala (Muscat), St George Orthodox Church in Sohar, and St Stephen’s Orthodox Church in Salalah form part of Ahmedabad Diocese Orthodox churches in the Sultanate.
