Mar Yulios to ordinate Fr Philipose to monkhood on Nov 20

AHMEDABAD: HG Dr Geevarghese Yulios, Metropolitan, Ahmedabad Diocese & Assistant Metropolitan, Kunnamkulam Diocese, will lead the ordination ceremony of Fr Philipose Abraham (Fr Reju) to monastic life on Friday, November 20, 2020.
The Holy Ordination to the order of monk or Dayaroyuso (Ramban) ceremony will be held at St Mary’s Orthodox Valiya Cathedral, Kumbazha, Pathanamthitta district, Kerala from 6 am.
Popularly called Reju achen, Fr Philipose is presently Manager of St Thomas Orthodox Retreat Centre named ‘Jyothis Ashram,’ located at Abu Road, Rajasthan, under the Diocese of Ahmedabad.
The priest was instrumental in developing the Abu Road ashram now named as the ‘Monastery of Epiphany.’
He has worked in several capacities under the Diocese of Delhi and after moving to Diocese of Ahmedabad since 2009 as vicar at churches in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Prior to his present position, he was manager at St Thomas Orthodox Retreat Centre, Abu Road, Rajasthan.
Fr Philipose belongs to ‘Kuttiyil Veedu’ in Kumbazha, Pathanamthitta district of Kerala state.
St Mary’s Orthodox Valiya Cathedral, Kumbazha, is his home parish under the Diocese of Thumpamon, where the ordination is being scheduled.
Fr Reju is the son of Abraham Idikkula and mother Gracykutty Abraham. He graduated from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, Post-graduation from MDS University, Ajmer and BEd from Maharshi Dayanand University, Alwar, with a Bachelor of Divinity from Serampore University, West Bengal.
Fr Abraham received training in sacred theology from St Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary (STOTS), Nagpur.
Earlier, he completed his schooling from Mar Philexinos Higher Secondary School, Kumbazha, and pre-university from Catholicate College Pathanamthitta.
