MUSCAT: His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, Catholicos of the East & Malankara Metropolitan, will lead the holy consecration ceremony of the new building of St Mary’s Orthodox Church (SMOC), Ghala, constructed at Ghala Church Complex, Muscat, on December 7, 8, 2018.
The Catholicos will be assisted in the ceremony by HG Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan, HG Geevarghese Mar Coorilos, Metropolitan, Bombay Diocese, and HG Dr Yuhanon Mar Chrysostomos, Metropolitan of Niranam Diocese.
Indian Orthodox parishes in the Sultanate of Oman at Muscat, Ghala, Sohar and Salalah come under Orthodox Diocese of Ahmedabad (ODA).
On December 7, the first part of the holy consecration will be held before which the parish will host a reception for His Holiness and other metropolitans followed by evening prayer.
On December 8, the second part of the consecration will be conducted followed by Holy Qurbana and a public meeting. At 7.30 pm, His Holiness will lead the Holy Eucharist along with the visiting Metropolitans.
Fr Thomas Jose, Vicar/President, St Mary’s Orthodox Church, Ghala, along with the managing committee, general convenors and members of SMOC has extended a cordial invitation to attend the holy consecration and bless the occasion.
They include P C Cherian, Hon Trustee and General Convener, K C Thomas, Hon Secretary and General Convenor, Mathew Ninan Athimoottil, General Convenor, Ebi Oommen, General Convenor and Technical Advisor, managing committee and church construction committee members.
TRI-MASS AT MUSCAT MAHAEDAVAKA (MGOME): On December 7, Friday, 7 am, the Catholicos will be the chief celebrant for the holy tri-mass at St Thomas Church, Ruwi.
This will be followed by a public meeting at 9 am during which Catholicate Day Fund along with MOSC Widow Pension Fund will be handed over to His Holiness who will also launch the new MGOME mobile application.
Later His Holiness will address various spiritual organisations of MGOME and hold a photo session.
On December 6, a traditional reception will welcome the Catholicos, Diocese Metropolitan and the visiting Metropolitans, followed by evening prayers and devotional address, according to a note from MGOME Vicar/President Fr Mathai Palath and Assoc Vicar Fr Bejoy Varghese.
