Dammam: The orthodox vacation bible school(OVBS)  under the joint auspices of  St.Dionysius Orthodox Congrigation (SDOC) Sunday School at Dammam formally commenced on 02nd October Friday, after the prayer. The OVBS flag was hoisted by Fr.Martine OFM Cap, in a function attended by members of congregation and students. After flag hoisting, the inaugural session was convened and it started with the prayer song by the OVBS Students and teachers. Sam Scaria, Director OVBS 2015, presided over the function. Welcome address was done by Mathew John, OVBS Committee Member followed by the Presidential Address by Thomas Varghese, Vice President St.Dionysius Orthodox Congregation.

 Principal of Sunshine International School C.S Johnny from the expatriate community of  Dammam, lit the lamp and inaugurated OVBS -2015 followed by the inaugural speech quoting the theme verses of OVBS -2015 ” Seek the things that are above Col 3:1 ” He also presented an interesting Video Presentation and well focused speech on “Grow in the grace and Knowledge of Lord Jesus 2 Peter 3/18”.He also emphasized that the prime responsibility of parents is to make use of every opportunity for the children to learn more and more about the word of God.

OVBS Convener C.T.Thomas delivered felicitation speech on thisoccasion. Mathew Thomas, OVBS Committee Member concluded the function by delivering Vote of Thanks.

 The first session of the OVBS classes were conducted as categories such as beginner, primary, junior, intermediate, and senior. SujaMoncy,Tina Febin,Preethi, Susan Cherian, SoumyaMajo, Rani Miriam Mathew, Shona John, Soosan Mathew, Shaju Koshy, Susan Thomas, Mercy Roy, Shiny Cherian, Geemol Joby and Omana Koshy has diligently taken up the responsibility of  being OVBS teachers. 

 The Music Ministry by Br. Biju and Br. Stanly has proven to be an enjoyable experience for our children. The organizing committee members under the leadership of Sam Scaria are supporting the activities of OVBS to make it a great blessing. The OVBS which is spanning over eight Sessions will come to an end on 30th October.
