Giant Christmas star with icons of birth of Jesus erected at St Gregorios  Orthodox Church, Mathikere

BENGALURU: The MGOCSM & Youth Movement of St Gregorious Orthodox Church, Mathikere, Bengaluru, have come out with a giant and unique Christmas star, installed at the entrance gate of the parish.
Vicar/President Fr Varghese Philip Idichandy, has named the Christmas star as the ‘Lighted Bethlehem star,’ and is perhaps the only one among all Malankara Orthodox Syrian churches in Bengaluru.
Fourteen MGOCYM members of the parish toiled hard for over 25 hours to create the giant star of 23×17 feet made from 22 aluminium channels. About 10 LED tube lights have been used to illuminate with icons which relate to the birth of Jesus Christ embossed on the star.
The Vicar joyously shares the experience of the Christmas-star making process, by the youth movement of his parish as part of their preparation to receive the birth of saviour Jesus Christ.
Fr Idichandy has extended his sincere thanks to all the youth members, who toiled to make the giant ‘star’ light up the church for the Christmas and New Year festivities.
Special mention must be made of John Kutty K, Yohannan K,  Lince Daniel, Sumodh Johnson who were behind the creation of the giant star. OCYM members Shenoy Mathai, Jacob Oommen, Nithin, Amal, Sandeep, Jayson, Justin, and Ponnachan also contributed.
The Vicar wishes all the members seasons greetings and a blessed Merry Christmas and a joyous Happy New Year.  ~ LC
