Thiruvananthapuram:
Flooded with conflicting ideas regarding post-deluge cleanliness and hygiene, a techie from Pandalam has created an exclusive website on dos and don’ts to be followed by those returning to their inundated houses.
Christened afterflood.in , the site is a crowdsourced data hub for information regarding waste management, personal hygiene, comprehensive clean-up guide and safety management.
Cleaning floor, well, furniture, safety inspection, flood damage inspection and restore possessions are some of the topics discussed in detail.
According to its creator Bodhish Thomas, though he managed to clean his flood-ravaged house, cleaning the well was a challenge.
“My friends had sent me many website links on different ways to clean the well, but those were conflicting options. It was then I decided to create a website with authentic information on every aspect of cleaning post flood,” said Thomas who is based in Bengaluru.
It took just four hours to create the website (available in English and Malayalam), which was launched on August 22. Authenticity of the information shared on the site is ensured by consulting with subject experts.
The website link has been included in keralarescue.in , an initiative of the IT Mission and IEEE Kerala.
Another site was started by the creator in Kannada following the floods in Coorg.
