MAR YULIOS AT LAUSANNE ORTHODOX INITIATIVE MAR YULIOS AT LAUSANNE ORTHODOX INITIATIVE(LOI)

STEVENAGE, UK: Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan HG Pulikkottil Dr Geearghese Mar Yulios who represented the Indian Orthodox (Malankara) Church attended the Lausanne Orthodox Initiative (LOI) Steering Committee residential meeting at Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England.
The three-day meeting was held at the Coptic Orthodox Church Centre from January 16-18 2017.
His Grace Bishop Angaelos, General Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the United Kingdom, hosted the residential committee meeting which provided an excellent setting to pray, think, and discuss together.
On the second day, Dr Mar Yulios was privileged to lead the Steering Committee in a morning prayer. The Metropolitan chose 3rd chapter from the Epistle of Paul to the Philippians. His Grace also paid due homage to the martyrs who died in an explosion at St Peter’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Cairo, on December 11, 2016.
At the end of the three-day meeting it was decided to hold a consultation for theological educators (both present and future) in Cambridge from September 5-8, 2017, and a regional consultation for North America to be held in June 2018.
It was also decided to make the work of LOI better known and develop relationships with supporters, partners, and among donors. The members also decided on how they can engage with some of the ‘hard to reach’ places, both among Evangelical and Orthodox. Some of the members who failed to make it joined the meeting via Skype.
