{"id":67421,"date":"2019-08-30T13:39:20","date_gmt":"2019-08-30T13:39:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/malankaraorthodox.tv\/?p=67421"},"modified":"2019-08-30T13:39:20","modified_gmt":"2019-08-30T13:39:20","slug":"orthodox-church-files-contempt-case-in-sc-against-kerala-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/malankaraorthodox.tv\/?p=67421","title":{"rendered":"Orthodox Church files contempt case in SC against Kerala government"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church filed a contempt of court petition before the SC against\u00a0the Chief Secretary, DGP and 18 other officials.<\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"agency_txt\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"author_des\">By\u00a0Express News Service<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">KOCHI:\u00a0The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and a few parishes under it have filed a contempt of court petition before the Supreme Court against the State Government on Thursday for &#8220;wilfully disobeying and violating the top court\u2019s verdict.&#8221;<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">A petition seeking to initiate contempt of court proceedings has been filed against the Chief Secretary, DGP and 18 other officials of the Kerala Government for willfully disobeying and violating the SC orders issued in July 2017, and February and July in 2019.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIllegal possession of parish churches by the Patriarch group with the police\u2019 support, conduct of religious services in some churches and cemeteries of the Orthodox Church with the police participation and conduct of a parallel administration by the Patriarch faction with the connivance of the respondent officials\u201d are the key points of violation cited in the petition.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wednesday\u2019s statement by the Catholicos of Jacobite Church, Baselious Thomas I, that the Church would not surrender anymore of their churches to the Orthodox faction even if there was a court order has also been mentioned in the petition as an example of disobedience and violation of the SC judgment. \u201cThe visits of the Patriarch of Antioch as a state guest, and proceedings of a cabinet sub-committee to solve the disputes are disobedience of the SC order,\u201d cited the Orthodox faction.<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newindianexpress.com\/states\/kerala\/2019\/aug\/30\/orthodox-church-files-contempt-case-in-sc-against-kerala-government-2026293.html\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church filed a contempt of court petition before the SC against\u00a0the Chief Secretary, DGP and 18 other officials.
