BENGALURU: The consecration and dedication of the reconstructed church of the Indian (Malankara) Orthodox Syrian Church at Mathikere, Bengaluru, will be held on May 26, 27 and 28, 2017.
\nThe consecration services will be led by His Graces Dr Yakoob Mar Irenaios (Metropolitan, Kochi Diocese), Dr Youhanon Mar Demetrios (Metropolitan, Delhi Diocese) and Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim (Metropolitan, Bengaluru Diocese).
\nThe consecration ceremony will be held in two phases on May 26 from 6 pm and on May 27 from 6.30 am followed by blessing of the cross tower and the church hall.
\n\u2018Anaswara Sneham\u2019, a musical CD produced by Bangalore Orthodox Gospel Team and directed by Anish Cherian with an intro by Diocese Metropolitan Mar Seraphim will be released during the occasion. The parish directory with full details of the family members and a souvenir will also be released by the Metropolitan. There will be a\u00a0Moonume Qurbana<\/i>\u00a0on May 28 from 8 am after which the celebrations will be rounded off with a public meeting and benediction.
\nMr Biju T Sam, a member of the Begur Orthodox Church, is the chief architect for the new Mathikere church will also be felicitated. Biju Sam was chiefly responsible for planning and building the St Mary\u2019s Orthodox Church, Begur, church parsonage , four cross towers and renovation of St Dionysius Church, Dasarahalli, Bengaluru.
\nFr Varghese Philip Idichandy, Vicar, St Gregorios Church, says the newly reconstructed church is unique having the specialty of 8 icons installed at the domes with 8 arches. The 8 icons represent various phases from Annunciation of the Lord to Pentecost, which makes the church the one and only among all other Orthodox churches in Bengaluru Diocese.
\nFr Idichandy along with the church committee under Mathew K Samuel (Treasurer), C Yohannan (Secretary), and L Thankachan (Church building coordinator), have extended their invite to all members to grace the occasion by their prayers and presence.
