{"id":37078,"date":"2015-07-12T10:49:20","date_gmt":"2015-07-12T10:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/malankaraorthodox.tv\/?p=37078"},"modified":"2015-07-12T10:49:21","modified_gmt":"2015-07-12T10:49:21","slug":"the-mission-of-ocym-everest-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/malankaraorthodox.tv\/?p=37078","title":{"rendered":"The Mission of OCYM Everest challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (OCYM) members of St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church (STIOC), Liverpool, have decided to take up the challenge to raise funds for a very charitable cause. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>The Mission of OCYM Everest challenge<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The OCYM Everest challenge, 2015 has a \u2018Zero hunger Mission\u2019, aiming to raise funds, to support activities by JWALA FOUNDATION in Kerala, India, for providing one of the basic need which is food for the needy, homeless and less fortunate. The JWALA FOUNDATION also try to rescue them to the Government Rescue Homes and to make sure a proper shelter for rest of their life. What we focus is to give food to all, those who wander in the streets of our nation; so let\u2019s join our hands to make<span class=\"text_exposed_show\"> this dream come true. The fund raised will be utilised to support various activities including supplying groceries, provisions for cooking, catering equipments for groups supplying free meals to the homeless, etc.<br \/>\nThey have decided to use a rather innovative yet visually appealing approach by challenging themselves with energetic exercises resulting in a virtual climb of Mount Everest. The youth relay team aims to cover the height of Mount Everest equivalent to 29,029 ft. (8848 metres) on a Treadmill with an incline and the circumference of the base of Mount Everest, a distance of 64.5 kilometres using stationary exercise bike.<br \/>\nThe ground breaking event takes place on Sunday, July 12, from 12 pm onwards at the Bebington Oval Cricket Ground in Wirral.
