The\u00a0Ahmedabad Diocese of Indian Orthodox Church had a Diocesan\u00a0Council\u00a0meeting,\u00a0an\u00a0Annual\u00a0Diocesan\u00a0General\u00a0Assembly\u00a0and Diocesan Priests\u2019 meeting\u00a0that convened at the\u00a0Diocesan Head Quarters situated at St. Thomas Bishop House,\u00a0Naroda\u00a0in\u00a0Gujarat on 17th\u00a0& 18th\u00a0of July 2015.\u00a0Our shepherd and Diocesan Metropolitan, H.G. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Yulios led the presidency for all the meetings.<\/span><\/p>\n

The council meeting was held on 17th\u00a0evening after the vespers.\u00a0On 18th, the\u00a0matins\u00a0was followed by Holy Eucharist and thereafter a\u00a0meeting of Diocesan Priests was\u00a0called.\u00a0Post to the Priests\u2019 meeting, the General Assembly commenced.\u00a0A warm welcome\u00a0with procession\u00a0was arranged for\u00a0welcoming\u00a0the\u00a0Diocesan\u00a0Metropolitan by all\u00a0the\u00a0priests &\u00a0faithful\u00a0to the\u00a0assembly. H.G.\u00a0Dr. Geevarghese Mar Yulios\u00a0presided\u00a0over\u00a0the annual general assembly. The Diocesan Secretary Rev. Fr. Jacob Mathew\u00a0took the opportunity to welcome the participants. The\u00a0delegations included\u00a0clergies, laities in charge\u00a0who came all the way from\u00a0different parishes\u00a0of\u00a0Gujarat, Rajasthan,\u00a0Madhya\u00a0Pradesh & Sultanate of Oman.<\/span><\/p>\n

The preliminary agendas\u00a0of the annual\u00a0general assembly included\u00a0the\u00a0Catholicate Day\u00a0collection.\u00a0Diocesan Secretary\u00a0read the\u00a0Kalpana\u00a0of\u00a0H.H.\u00a0Moran Mar\u00a0Baselios\u00a0Marthoma\u00a0Paulose\u00a0II,\u00a0Catholicos\u00a0of the East &\u00a0the\u00a0Malankara\u00a0Metropolitan.\u00a0The\u00a0collection was\u00a0handed over to Diocesan Metropolitan.\u00a0It was indeed a matter of joy and pride that all parishes of the\u00a0Diocese\u00a0have\u00a0crossed this time too the total targeted amount for them.\u00a0The Diocesan Metropolitan\u00a0appreciated all\u00a0the\u00a0priests &\u00a0faithful members for this achievement.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the first session,\u00a0Diocesan Secretary\u00a0read\u00a0the\u00a0Kalpana\u00a0of\u00a0the Diocesan Metropolitan for the annual general assembly. After the presidential address\u00a0by His Grace,\u00a0the\u00a0Diocesan Secretary Rev. Fr. Jacob Mathew\u00a0presented the 6th\u00a0annual report & annual accounts, which\u00a0was\u00a0passed unanimously by\u00a0the assembly\u00a0members after due deliberation & explanations.\u00a0The general assembly concordantly passed the proposal about increment in the\u00a0salary of priests with a basic pay of Rs.15,600\/-. The assembly\u00a0discussed various upcoming\u00a0projects\u00a0and developments in\u00a0the\u00a0diocese including\u00a0the purchase of land and\u00a0construction of building for\u00a0proposed St. Mary\u2019s International school.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally in the concluding session,\u00a0Diocesan Metropolitan H.G Dr. Geevarghese Mar Yulios expressed sincere\u00a0gratitude towards all\u00a0the efforts of the faithful under their respective vicars, for their\u00a0involvement and\u00a0valuable support extended to church & various developmental\u00a0projects, which in collaboration boosts the diocese to touch the heights.\u00a0To conclude the assembly, the Aramana Manager, Rev. Fr. Isaac Thomas extended the vote of Thanks.\u00a0Thereafter with noon prayer and benediction the Diocesan Annual General Assembly was dispersed.<\/span><\/p>\n
